Under Armour Inc. announced this morning it is appointing two new executives under president and CEO Stephanie Linnartz’s leadership.
The new hires are Kara Trent and Yassine Saidi, both of whom will report directly to Linnartz. Trent will take on the role of president of the Americas beginning in February. She has been with Under Armour since 2015, most recently as managing director for the brand’s operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Saidi joins Linnartz’s team as chief product officer after more than eight years with Adidas AG and more than nine with Puma SE.
“In the past year, we have added incredible executive talent to Under Armour, and I am confident that Yassine and Kara’s demonstrated track records of leadership and expertise will further strengthen our ability to build an even more powerful brand,” Linnartz said in a statement. “We will continue to advance our growth strategies, driving greater demand for the brand through groundbreaking innovation and design.”
Under Armour is No. 97 in the Top 1000. The Digital Commerce 360 database ranks North America’s leading online retailers by their web sales.
About Under Armour’s newest executives
Trent has led the company’s second-largest business, the EMEA region, since October 2021. She has contributed to double-digit revenue growth in her time leading that region’s operations, Under Armour said in a statement. Trent will assume the role David Baxter currently holds, as he departs the company Feb. 16, Under Armour announced in the statement. Prior to serving as managing director of EMEA for Under Armour, Trent held multiple roles including merchandising and planning in the company’s North American business. Before that, she spent eight years at Puma and five at Reebok.
Meanwhile, Under Armour said Saidi has had a “long track record of leveraging strong brand DNA into global commercial opportunities across apparel and footwear.”
As chief product officer, he will be responsible for “building winning product strategies focused on apparel, footwear and accessories,” Under Armour said. He will also manage the overall global product vision and product strategy for Under Armour.
Under Armour has also initiated a search for a chief marketing officer and senior vice president for footwear.
Recent Under Armour executive appointments
The brand recently appointed Jim Dausch (chief customer officer), Shawn Curran (chief supply chain officer) and John Varvatos (head of design) to its leadership. Linnartz outlined to Digital Commerce 360 each of their roles in addition to key areas for the company’s growth. She said she wants to focus on four key priorities:
- Product design
- Supply chain management
- Merchandising
- Technology
Built into these four priorities is a goal to expand Under Armour’s ecommerce business. Currently, ecommerce represents about 40% of the brand’s direct-to-consumer business.
